A WMF-based workflow for e-learning

Traditionally, workflow management systems (WfMS) are heavy monolithic software with vendor specific protocol. The lack of standardisation become a real problem for interoperability. To face this problem, vendors, users and researchers founded the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) and defined the workflow reference model [3]. Based on this work, the OMG designed the Workflow Management Facility (WMF) to build workflow engine with CORBA objects. This paper addresses how we use and extend WMF to obtain a workflow engine. For us, it’s the first step to achieve an adaptive, cooperative and distributed workflow for e-learning.
